St James chair
Kingcome’s St James chair is a truly classic design, inspired by Edwardian originals, and the embodiment of period living.
Very comfortable, the St James chair features a rolled arm which sweeps upwards to the back of the chair, creating an understated wing effect.
The St James chair is often specified with a skirt, which further emphasises its traditional styling. Lighter, soft handle fabrics, such as linens, cottons or fine velvets, are particularly well suited to a chair skirt.
The T-shaped seat and sprung back provide comfort and support, while our choice of superior cushion fillings enable clients to specify the type of ‘sit’ they prefer in a chair. Often feather and down is chosen for its traditional ‘sit’ – or even a high percentage down seat cushion for that very authentic and luxurious period feel. The comfortable sprung back can also be made with a sumptuous duvet face.
We regularly make a run up stool to sit with our St James chair – designed and proportioned specifically to sit alongside the chair, and often with a skirt to complement the chair itself.
The St James is versatile in size, suitably proportioned for both drawing rooms and larger bedrooms. It sits well in both town and country period homes, and alongside other classically designed and antique pieces.
